 Job Description:  

Gerdau is currently seeking a Supervisor for its Whitby Recycling, Ontario facility.


Responsibilities:
• Administer safety and environmental programs
• Diagnose and subsequent solution of breakdown problems
• Ensure proper operation and utilization of equipment to prevent damage and minimize repair
• Responsible for employee relations, training, evaluation and discipline.
• Ensure corporate policies and programs are implemented
• Lead team activities to accomplish improvement goals including facilitating crew meetings
 

 
 
 Qualifications:  

• Must have college diploma
• Minimum 5yrs. experience as front line supervisor in a UNIONISED environment
• Previous scrap/metals industry preferred
• Basic knowledge and experience of the Quality assurance/5S/ and other lean manufacturing methods.
• People management skills a must.
• Must have strong communication, interpersonal and motivation abilities
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft office and have the capacity to learn multi management systems), coupled with a dedication to safety and quality.
• Must have prior Collective Agreement implementing experience
• Must be comfortable working overtime hours as necessary. Rotating shift work. (Must be prepared to work days/afternoons and nights).
• Prefer solid presentation abilities combined with organizational skills.
